For Maeve Wrenn, soccer has always been more than just a sport, it’s been a defining part of her high school experience. Starting with the Napille Saints Peter and Paul school team, Maeve quickly fell in love with the game, continuing through club play and varsity competition. Now a senior leader on her team, she reflects on how soccer has shaped her both on and off the field.

Maeve’s journey began at school and expanded with club soccer, fueling her passion and dedication.

“I started playing soccer at school, then I just started playing club, and I fell in love with the sport.”

Soccer has also helped Maeve grow personally. “It’s bettered me,” she shares, teaching her communication and teamwork skills that extend beyond the field.

Her family, especially her mother, has been a crucial support, driving her long distances to games. Maeve also credits her teammates with making soccer enjoyable, highlighting the importance of team spirit.

As a senior, Maeve embraces her leadership role by connecting with teammates on and off the field. She emphasizes clear and positive communication to keep the team focused and motivated. The team’s dynamic was strong this season, with players encouraging each other, especially through tough games.

Though Maeve had chances to play soccer beyond high school, she plans to keep it as a fun activity with friends rather than pursuing it competitively.

“On days when I didn’t want to go to school, soccer gave me the motivation to go to school and to look forward to doing something.”

Maeve Wrenn’s soccer journey is one of passion, perseverance, and leadership, showing how sports can deeply impact a young athlete’s life.
