The Rivalry With The Maroons

Throughout Hamilton soccer’s history, there has been one ultimate rival: Holland Christian. It’s more than just a game, it’s a competition between communities that, over time, has created a tension that excites everyone around. Both schools have a supportive community and fan base that is super involved with the soccer program. The mix of community with the hardworking girls on both Holland Christian and Hamilton causes for an intense game filled with excitement, and leaves the audience wondering who will win.

Over the past couple of years, most would agree that Holland Christian has been the recurring biggest game of the season.

Junior, Joselyn Paskvan, says that “the results of this season’s game against them keeps the rivalry going”, since the first game ended in a tie this season.

While that result wasn’t what the team was hoping for, they still played hard and put up a fight, ending the game with a score of 0-0 and the second game ending with a score of 5-1.

The Hawkeyes have had both victories and losses in past years against the Maroons. The fluctuation in game results is a cause for motivation among the players on both teams. That’s what makes the game so intriguing: the Hawkeyes have strong endurance and don’t give up when playing and give it their all, as do the Maroons, making it a game filled with great plays and tactics.

Fans of the Hamilton soccer program agree that this is a huge game for the community, and they are very enthusiastic about the game, and it is overall very fun to watch.

The soccer games between Hamilton and Holland Christian are always intense, with passion and stressful finishes. Whether it ends with a hard earned victory or a heartbreaking defeat, the memories on the field are always ones to remember.

The rivalry isn’t just about winning, it’s about the pride of the community and the spirit of competition.
