The Outlook for the 25/26 season

By Zachary Bain and Taylor Garza

While the Hamilton girls’ basketball team is preparing and training hard for their preseason, we spoke with some of the team to see how they are feeling about the season, and they have expectations for a good season this year. Last year, the girls finished with a record of 17/7. But this year, as Broke Petroelje said, she predicted the team could finish with a 16/8 record by the end of the season, so the team is confident in this year.

Although, while the new season comes, there might be some complications. As three of the seniors last year graduated, it is going to require some of the other players on the team to really step up to try to make up for the loss of the seniors last year. On top of that, Leah Brink is going into the new season after her leg injury that took her out all last season, so we will see if she is still able to slice through the court as she used to. All of the girls are putting in the work before their first game to make sure they are ready.

Even though the team could struggle with complications, the team is ready for the season as they see their strengths in practice. As Coach Malloch says, the team is hard-working, they play hard, and they listen well, and are a coach-able team. So overall, there are high hopes for this season if they can keep it up.

Another big part of this season is the team’s goal-setting. We talked to a couple of the members of the team, and they had some good goals for the season.

Grace Sexton says, “I want to learn and to get a lot better so that the next couple of seasons I will be good.” Grace’s goal is to prepare for her future seasons and become a valuable part of the team.

And Christine Rithamel says,  “I want to have good connections with everyone on the team.” Christine wants to have a good bond with everyone on the team, so they have good team connections. One thing that the girls do to team bond is a book club where they read a book together once a week.

Overall, the team has a good outlook for this season, and they are on the right track. If they stick with it and try to achieve their goals, they will have a great season.
