The Hamilton girls Volleyball team had a big season this year as they competed for a conference championship throughout the first part of the season. With a new coach leading the way, the volleyball team has a bright future ahead of them. Many of these accomplishments can be attributed to the team chemistry.
The team’s chemistry was undeniable, as expressed by Junior, Izzy Friedriechsen, “I love these girls so much and it was a great group of people on the team. I think that we all learned a lot from each other and became very close.” This shows just how connected the team felt, not just as teammates but as friends. The experience of playing together allowed each member to learn from the others, creating an environment of mutual support and growth. This closeness helped the team thrive, both on and off the court, creating memories and friendships that will likely last a lifetime.

As the season neared its end, confidence that had once fueled the team began to waver under pressure. Senior Ally Kragt observed, “We are generally a pretty confident team, but when the games really mattered and we were in tough situations, we lacked confidence and struggled to finish games when they were tight.” This lack of confidence in key moments made it difficult to secure crucial wins, highlighting areas the team could grow stronger in for the future.
This season, integrating underclassmen into the team presented some challenges, even though relationships were generally strong. Junior Emily Berkimer reflected, “I think all together we all get along and have good relationships, but problems arose with the underclass being such a major part of our team.” With experience, the team is hopeful that next year these younger players will grow, strengthening both their skills and team camaraderie.

With lots of sophomores and juniors on the team this year, next year the team chemistry should be there once again with many of the players returning. If the team can have the same chemistry next year as they did this year, we could be seeing another solid squad looking forward.
