Meet the Athlete: Larissa Brondyke, Girls Cross Country

By Zoe Heneveld

Every day, less than one percent of all the seniors run Girls Cross Country.

There are only three seniors on the Girls Cross Country team. Larissa Brondyke is one of them.

This is Larissa’s first year of cross country. She loves how accomplished it makes her feel after she completes a workout or a race. Out of everything about cross, Larissa likes the people most. We were able to ask Larissa what it’s like being in cross in a previous interview.

“It’s definitely nothing like I’ve ever done before. It’s different but I really like it. The team is really good; everyone is really close. It’s a really good place to be in.”

Larissa is excited to be a senior this year. She is happy that high school is almost over and that she can move onto a new phase of her life. Despite being excited to move on, Larissa is sad to think that she won’t ever be on a team with the same people again.

Larissa is a two-sport athlete. She does cross country in the fall and soccer in the spring. She likes ketchup on her hotdog and would be a dolphin if she could. She loves the idea of pineapple on pizza and would switch bodies with Lydia. Her personality could be described as a chicken tender basket and thinks that Cora wouldn’t survive a zombie apocalypse out of all the people on the team.

Larissa is not planning to play any sports in college. We are excited to watch the rest of her cross season and into her soccer season.
