Why The Sport of Girls’ Wrestling Is Growing So Fast

Girls’ wrestling is the fastest-growing sport in America. Why? Well, it starts with outside influences like TikTok and other social media sources. Big creators influence a lot of what the generation of kids do today. A lot of outside influences outside of social media, too, like friends or significant others who wrestle, will influence the athlete to wrestle.

Secondly, a separate team from the boys’ wrestling team. In girls’ wrestling, there is a different way of running the operation. Which has 3 key things

  • Different weight classes then the boys

Girls’ wrestling uses different weight classes so they can wrestle in their gender group in competitions, keeping the playing field fair.

  • More tournament’s then duals

When there are more tournaments in a season than duals, it’s less taxing on the body and mind due to it being an individual setting, not a team setting. Boys’ wrestling has more duals than girls’ wrestling, making it more stressful on the body and mind.

  • Fewer days of wrestling equals more time to yourself

Girls’ wrestling doesn’t have duals on Wednesday and only competes on the weekends or Friday making more time for outside activities.

Thirdly, the coaches who give their time to teach new things. Coaches are one of the biggest roles in wrestling because they are willing to give their time to teach a somewhat of a niche sport that isn’t very mainstream outside of the wrestling community. All the credit should go to the coaches who are willing to do things, even though they don’t have a lot of understanding of the sport as well.
