Each sports season normally has a set schedule, however this year the Hamilton Boys Swim And Dive team schedule changed due to bad weather. This schedule change led to senior Owen Lewis’ favorite meet Hamilton vs. Spring Lake
That meet stood out to Owen Lewis because of the energy of the whole team coming together and cheering each other on. This was because of the competition at the meet as Owen Lewis said “Spring Lake is our rival in Swim and Dive as Spring Lake is almost always our level or better.” This meet ended with Spring Lake winning by one point showing the growth and effort each and every boy put into making this meet special.
This meet was different from the normal meets. The original meet got canceled due to bad weather and got reassigned with a two-day notice. This leads the boys to have little time to prepare. Some of the boys even wore tech suits due to Spring Lake wearing their tech suits each year. This helped fuel the energy of all the boys.
Everyone on the team was critical to the closeness of the meet. As Owen Lewis said “In a meet like Spring Lake, every single race matters” Everyone on the team had to pull more than their weight they were all at top performance. Each and everyone went to the end of the lanes to cheer on their teammates due to this there was an amazing atmosphere. Spring Lake helps the team bring full energy.
For senior Owen Lewis, this will be his last year in as he says “the brotherhood that is swimming” which will always be a crucial memory of his high school years. The team truly comes together and supports each other.
