In a world of competitive sports, individual talent usually takes the spotlight but that is not the case for Hamilton’s Girls Cross Country Team. The girls brought power to their competition through their unity as a team. They not only pushed their own limits but also encouraged their team to do their very best as well.

This season was about positive energy and resilience for the girls cross country team.

Junior Cassie Helder described the team atmosphere as “Really chill and calm, and very positive, “ which helped foster a strong, supportive environment.

“It gave me a positive mindset, reminding me to keep going and that I’m almost there,” Cassie shared. Despite facing faster opponents the team stayed focused, pushing each other without getting discouraged.

Cassie’s personal motto, “I can do anything with Christ through me,” helped her keep going through challenges and inspired her to finish strong. For Cassie and her teammates, this season became a lesson in unity, faith, and perseverance, proving that a positive attitude can make all the difference.

The strength of the team is evident both on the track and in their tight-knit friendships. Jenna Dozeman, a junior on the team, shares that the team’s success is built on mutual support, with teammates cheering each other on during meets and pushing each other through tough workouts.

“Running is a very mentally tough sport, so having understanding and empathic teammates is crucial for success,” Jenna Dozeman says.

This sense of community extends to their spiritual support, with the team coming together before each meet for a prayer, which helps calm nerves and strengthen their faith.

Drawing inspiration from Hebrews 12:1, Jenna remains motivated by the reminder to let go of anything that holds her back and to embrace the race she is on, fueled by both her love for the sport and her faith. This unwavering dedication and positive outlook are key to the team’s strong season.
