What Happened:
Hamilton competed at the Allendale Falcon Invite on Saturday. The tournament featured multiple state ranked teams with multiple state ranked individuals at every weight.
The Hawkeyes finished 2nd overall in team standings, with only Stevensville Lakeshore scoring more teams points.
What this Means:
The Hawkeyes now look strong as a team and in individuals.
Key Performer:
Broden Vanwieren Knocked off the 106lb #7 ranked wrestler in division 3 and the #16 ranked wrestler in division 2. Broden is typically a JV wrestler for the Hawkeyes but was put on varsity this weekend and exceeded expectations!
Returning state champ Malachi Kapenga dominated the competition field and moves to 16-0 on the season.
They Said It:
”All in all the wrestlers did well, some struggled, but some really shined in coach’s eyes and may see changes in the line up.” -Tyler Block
What’s Next:
The Hawkeyes travel to Union High School to compete in a dual against the Falcons and the Red Hawks. On January 10, at 5pm.
