Some people look at the previous season and wonder if they can achieve more. Bryce Morrison knows he can get that State champion title. Last year in the state finals, Bryce placed 3rd. At the 2025 state finals, Hamilton wrestling had 6 total state qualifiers.
This year, we have 3 boys who qualified. Bryce Morrison said, “It’s really just another step in the process; you have to expect to win if you’re going to win. Bryce had high expectations even as a freshman. As he said, “You can’t make matches too big or too small.”
Trent Holyfield has always been confident in Bryce’s performance, no matter who he went against. What separates Bryce isnt just the talent, but the way he carries himself inside and outside the wrestling room. As the Hawkeyes had a young team this year, all the underclassmen looked to him for inspiration and watched closely. He doesn’t just ask for attention, he sets the standard. Whether it’s drilling more after practice or rewatching his matches to see what he could improve on, he’s always trying to get better.
After finishing 3rd last year, bryce didnt spend time dwelling on it; he got better. He went to offseason tournaments like Fargo, etc., every tough practice, every tough lift, he knew it was built for one goal, A state championship. Chase Morrison, his younger brother, a sophomore, works with Bryce almost every day and is pretty confident in Bryce’s performance and knows what he is capable of.
What it means for Hamilton is that either way, if he brings home the title, he has put a name for Hamilton wrestling and Hamilton athletics. By winning the Gold Grappler invite and beating ranked kids, winning conference, districts, and beating individual records like wins, etc. He definitely put his name out there for it to be known
