A Bright Future For Grace Sexton

From the moment she first stepped onto the field at just five years old, it was clear that soccer was not just a hobby or a game for her. It was a passion. Now, as a standout freshman on the girls’ varsity team, whenever she is on the field, you can feel excitement, energy, and effort every time she plays. But her focus is to work, grow, and improve her team’s teamwork. Each game with her teammates shows that she improves; the future looks bright for both her and her team. Inspired by players like Alex Morgan and fueled by pure love for the game. You can hear nothing but passion for the game. She’s a competitor to the core.
Freshman Grace Sexton made her mark on the girls’ varsity team with her energy, effort, and passion for soccer. She says, “Before a game, I’m excited to play, and after a win, I just get more excited. “I give a lot of effort because I want to get better and always try to be the best I can.” Grace described the season as “good,” but she wants to “get better and improve at dribbling the ball.” She said, “My favorite game moment was when I scored in the Saugatuck game.” And although the season is now over, she’ll miss playing with her teammates, Grace stated, “I’m looking forward to just being back on the field again.” Inspired by the competitiveness of soccer and role models like Alex Morgan, Grace is ready for whatever comes next.
Teammate Ellery Rietema only had positive things to say about playing with Grace Sexton this season. When we asked if she enjoyed being on the field with Grace from the start to the end, she said, “Yeah, I did.” Ellery noticed real improvement in Grace’s game. Saying things like, “She definitely made progress and got better from where she was at the start of the season.” Ellery also described Grace as a good person off the field as well. Even though Grace doesn’t give much advice. But when we asked Ellery to describe Grace in one word, she said,
“Determined,” and she’s already looking forward to playing with her again next season.
Teammate Kyrza Michalak enjoyed having Grace Sexton as a teammate, saying she “Always brought a lot of energy to the team and was fun to be around.” She noticed Grace’s growth a lot during the season, especially with a new coach, and said, “She changed a lot from how her perspective on the game was.” Off the field, Kyrza said she sees Grace as someone who’s “Very caring about others.” Grace also pushes her teammates to improve, often telling Kyrza, “Don’t stop,” and encouraging her to “be the best version” of herself. When asked to describe Grace, Kyrza said she’s “Unpredictable,” with “a lot of different personalities,” and she’s excited to play with her again over the next three years.
Finally, Teammate Joselyn Paskvan said, “I loved playing with Grace,” calling her “very sweet” and “ a very good player.” She said, “Grace has grown a lot this season,” becoming more aggressive and influential, helping others while doing her job. Off the field, Joselyn described Grace as hardworking and kind, “she’s someone who makes sure people feel seen and supported.” “She’s always teaching me little lessons and tips,” Joselyn added. Josely is looking forward to playing alongside her next season.
Grace Sexton has had an impressive first season on varsity, standing out not just for her talent but for her growth, energy, and strong team spirit. From scoring in big moments to constantly encouraging her teammates, Grace has shown she’s determined. Her teammates described her as caring and hard working, and someone who pushes others to their maximum effort. Whether it’s on the field or in school, she leads with kindness and purpose. With a bright future ahead, there’s no doubt Grace will continue to be a key player and a positive force on the team.
