Coaching is a challenging job, yet it opens so many doors for past players, people passionate about the sport, and people who care.

For years, Tyler Robinson was the head coach for both Boys’ and Girls’ Varsity Soccer at Hamilton High School. He was a leader of the Hamilton Soccer program and helped expand the program by increasing involvement.

Recently, Hamilton has had changes, and now the Head Coach for soccer is Colton Johnson. He was a player himself since he could walk, and sadly, his soccer career ended early when he got injured and didn’t get the opportunity to play at the collegiate level.

Coach Johnson voiced that, “When I decided to hang things up, I immediately stepped into coaching at my alma mater and haven’t looked back since.”

Through his struggle of not playing, he still turned it around for the better and started helping others with their passion for playing soccer.

He is currently a full-time club soccer coach as well as the head coach for our Hamilton Girls Soccer team. He loves anything and everything related to sports and values quality time with his girlfriend, his friends, and his colleagues. Ultimately, he is a great leader for Hamilton girls’ soccer and is so passionate towards helping them develop while still getting life lessons in the process.

Joselyn Paskavan is an athlete on his team who has been playing her whole life, and she mentioned how Coach Johnson “ He knows what he’s talking about soccer-wise, and adapts to our players with tactics well.”

Coach Johnson is also known for his sense of humor and his jokes, which help him connect with his players and grow closer as a team. He is a very respectful coach and Joselyn describes that “He actually cares about us.”

Coaching a sport takes dedication and the right person to do it. Coach Johnson has shown his love and passion for soccer through coaching from early on. He showed up when the Hawkeyes needed him most and has succeeded.
