As a varsity athlete, you are held to high expectations of greatness. But those expectations are not only held by the people around you, but the players themselves as well. The goals of a player could make or break how their season comes to an end, not only for themselves but for the team as a whole.

For senior player Keegan Johr, his golf goals help him persevere through the season. Having a mental list of accomplishments he wants to achieve throughout the season helps keep him focused and determined, along with the support of his other varsity teammates. Keegan listed some of his goals for the season.

“To be better than last year” and more specifically, “break 90 in an 18-hole match.”

This athlete’s work doesn’t go unnoticed. His teammate Will Hickok commented on Johrs’s performance in the first few matches and had only positive things to say.

“I’ve watched Keegan improve since our JV year, and I am confident in all the hard work he’s put in,” says Hickok.

Hardworking, determined, and focused are 3 words I have learned to use when talking about Keegan Johr. Not even halfway through the season, and there’s already a clear improvement from last year.

On April 19th at Diamond Springs, 2 games in and Johr already broke one of his largest goals of the season. He broke 90 in an 18-hole match.

He commented on this accomplishment saying, “I’ve practiced hard and have played pretty well this season, so breaking one of my season goals so early is super exciting.”

Furthermore, Keegan is proud of how well he is doing so far. He has an aspiring attitude for the future of his season and is excited to keep playing a sport he loves.

He ended our conversation with a humble but proud quote. “Feels good to play decent golf instead of bad golf.”

Through bad days or good, Keegan Johr is pushed by his teammates and himself to always play his best and be his best for everyone around him, which is the biggest goal of all.
