A Season of Companionship and Competition

A Season of Companionship and Competition

The 2025 Varsity Boys Swim season wasn’t just another season.  Jack Langeland, who has been competing in boy’s swim and dive for ten years, said “ My team this year has one of, if not the best, team dynamics over my 10 seasons of swimming. This incredible band of brothers, as I’d describe the team feel.” shows just how different this team really is.

In any sports team, it’s important for teammates to get along and work together. But it’s more important that the team pushes each other beyond their limits, creating better-performing individuals, and a better-performing team. Jack also mentioned that, in his words, “They make me want to work hard so that I can win for them instead of just myself.” further expressing the importance of a strong team bond.  When Jack was asked to summarize his experiences over this season with the team, the words he used were, “a second family.” The family-like dynamic of the boy’s swim and dive team encouraged new people to join and pushed returning athletes beyond their limits. Even in comparison to the previous swim season, Jack feels better than the previous season, stating “So the fact that I am better than I was last year at state in the part of the season where we are not supposed to go fast shows just how much I’ve improved” attesting to how much his swim performance improved from the end of last season to the middle of the current season.

The Boys Swim And Dive family dynamic is more than pushing people to be faster. The team also wants to have fun and get along off the pool deck. When Jack was asked what his favorite part of the season was, he didn’t say anything about a win or a surprising performance. “This season was filled with many highs and very few lows as my team has made this the most fun season of my life. If I had to pick my favorite high of the season I’d be forced to say that when we pooled together a bunch of money and planned to “upgrade” our locker room significantly

with LED lights and other awesome decorations, would be my favorite moment of the season.” showing the team focuses on more than just their performance.

A team that is able to grow in both performance and companionship, is a team that’s going great places, and Hamilton’s Boys Swim and Dive team during the 2025 season is more than just that, it was “To put it simply, we are a family that knows how to have fun together” to the athletes on the team.
