Cheering on her teammates at the end of their lanes she stands. For Keira Volkers, supporting her teammates and cheering them on shows her commitment to the team and yet another evidential point that swimming is a part of her soul.

On the pool deck, Keira has swam since she was 6 years old. She has been swimming the 50 free, 100 free, and both the 200 medley relay and 400 free relay. She tends to stand at the end of her teammates lanes or on the side where they can see her and cheer them on as they do their events.

Her Sister, Alyssa Volkers states, “Keira pushes me the most on the team, she is always at the end of my lane when I’m swimming and always there for me when I need her.”

Another teammate Kiera Lewis explains, “Ever since Keira walked onto the team she was such a bright light, she always figures out ways to make your day better when you’re feeling bad,” she also adds “She’s always in a happy mood and one of the nicest people I know and had one of the most contagious smiles.”

So since Keira has been doing swimming she has made everyone feel supported on the team and there for her.

Whereas sophomore swimmer Sylvia Mannes says “Keira is very bubbly, caring of everyone, she always knows the right thing to say, and she pushes everyone in and out of the pool.”

So not only is she supportive on but off the pool deck too. Besides swimming she is a part of the tennis team and quiz bowl team. She works to balance those hobbies with a job, friends, family events, and school.

Keira talked about her school life and what she was hoping to do after high school as well. When asked about her favorite teacher she explained,

“She is a great math teacher, and she’s easy to talk to about literally anything throughout the day.” Talking about Math and Health teacher Mrs Bramlett which she has for Algebra 2.

“My plans after high school are to go to college and go into the medical field.” Keira hopefully states. She wants to go into the medical field and study pediatric dermatology.

This is Keira Volkers, she is committed, supportive, a hard worker, and a kind soul. She is more than just a swimmer, she is an amazing human being.
