As the buzzer goes off and the clock strikes zero of the district final game, the Hamilton Boys Basketball team was disappointed again in their performance against Holland Christian.
The Hawkeyes lost to the Maroons 3 times this season, this is what Junior guard Gabe Schrotenboer had to say about it. “It was pretty tough especially with the last two coming down to the final possessions and the last one ending our season”
I asked a lot of the team the same question, how do you feel about losing to HC? The answer I got every time was sadness and disappointment. The Junior class is ready for next year though, many of them believe they are going to be good, and they’re not going to let HC get in the way.
This next year, due to conference realignment they most likely will only play HC once all season. This means that they have to make the game count.
I asked Junior guard Jeren Bronkhorst what he thinks they need to do to beat HC next year, he said “We just need to treat it like any other game, we are overthinking it too much. we need it to be strictly business, walk in walk out with the win”
Many of the Juniors have high hopes for next season, but our conference is only getting harder with teams like Zeeland East and West joining the conference.
Next year the team is going to be coming in determined, after 3 straight losses to them, that is going to motivate them to play their best game of the season.
So if it comes down to Holland Christian and Hamilton in the district finals, the Hawkeyes are going to play their best game of the season and do everything and anything it takes to beat the Maroons.
