Izzy Ruggles, a senior at Hamilton High School, is an exemplary member of the Varsity Competitive Cheer team. She has been a part of the team since 7th grade and has been competing ever since. Although she started as a flyer, she currently serves as a side base, bringing her years of experience and expertise to the team.
Aside from competitive cheer, Izzy also participates in sideline cheer. It was her friend, Jen Lambers, who initially convinced her to try out for competitive cheerleading, and she has been passionate about it ever since. According to Izzy, her mother has been her biggest supporter throughout her cheerleading journey.
This year has been a memorable one for Izzy, as she has formed close friendships and bonds with her teammates. She loves being part of the team because of the strong sense of camaraderie and support that the team shares. “Everyone puts in so much effort and it shows every day at practice and every time we compete,” she says. Even when they don’t achieve the results they were hoping for, the team remains united and continues to work hard to improve themselves.
Izzy’s favorite thing about being on the team is the close relationships she has built with her teammates and coaches. The team constantly encourages and supports each other, making it a positive and uplifting experience for all involved. Junior, Zoey Schreur says “She’s positive and has a good outlook on anything and her laugh makes everyone smile, she’s very sweet and you can always confide in her.”
Overall, Izzy Ruggles is a dedicated and talented member of the Hamilton High School Varsity Competitive Cheer team. Coach Amanda Kapinga mentions her uplifting advice for her teammates. “Izzy has a love for cheer and her teammates. She is always there when a teammate needs a lift me up or advice regarding cheer or life. We love what Izzy brings to our team on and off the mat!”
Her years of experience and hard work have made her an invaluable asset to the team. “Izzy is one of those people that you can talk to about anything. She is so incredibly kind and very helpful when someone needs help with something” Kennedy VanNuil. Her love for the sport and her teammates is evident in everything she does, and her positive attitude and unwavering support for her teammates are truly inspiring.
