Having trust in your teammates is also a very important part of any sports team. Players need to trust their coaches and teammates even when they aren’t the most confident in them. A Great way to build this trust is team building activities that help the athletes and coaches trust each other and have each other’s backs.

 

You need players to be excited to be a part of the team and contribute to the overall success of the team. That’s why you need a positive team culture. Working together on tough challenges in preseason and throughout the season will build strong bonds between players and coaches for the season.

Some team building activities that athletics do at Hamilton is the football team goes to veer camp. Veer camp is a camp up in muskegon where the football team plays games and practice drills with and against other schools. At veer camp the football team stays the three nights in a hotel nearby and does a lot of team bonding. Many of the boys on the football team say that being with the team and staying in the hotel together builds their trust in each other and builds better relationships with each other.

Along with football, Hamilton volleyball also incorporates team building activities into the season and preseason. This year for team bonding they took a camping trip as a team, went out for brunch before some of their games, and they had a team sleepover a few weeks before districts. The players say this is a really good bonding experience but they also develop trust in each other and become better as friends and closer as a team.
