Being a high school soccer coach is more than just a job for Coach Robinson – it’s a chance to make a positive difference in the lives of young athletes. After graduating from MSU in 2003, Coach Robinson saw an opportunity to teach and coach at Hamilton High School, driven by a desire to influence students both on and off the field.

Over the years, Coach Robinson has created lasting memories as a mentor and leader.

Coach Robinson reflects, “The best experiences for me as a coach are when the male and female Hamilton soccer alums come back over the years, give back to the soccer community, play in alumni games, and even coach with me on the sidelines as fellow coaching colleagues in some cases. To me, those are the ultimate rewards as a coach.”

Facing challenges and setbacks, Coach Robinson keeps a steady approach guided by wisdom gained from 19 years of coaching.

Coach Robinson shares, “It could always be worse. Those two ideas keep me (and I hope my players) grounded when things inevitably go awry on occasion. Such is life (occasional stress).”

Performance off the field is just as important to Coach Robinson as it is on the field. Academic excellence is a top priority for Coach Robinson, who instills a “student before athlete” ethos within the team. Enforcing a no-failure policy, the team maintains academic standards throughout the season, leading to a remarkable 3.37 GPA and a Team Academic All-State award.

Coach Robinson embodies qualities like communication, consistency, caring, confidence-building, commitment, competence, and character, known as the 7 C’s of coaching. Striving to uphold these principles on and off the field, Coach Robinson fosters an environment where players not only develop as athletes but also as individuals. Coach Robinson emphasizes, “I do my best (and of course fail sometimes!) to uphold the 7 C’s of coaching…”

Coach Robinson stands as an inspiration, embodying the essence of a mentor and leader in high school soccer. His dedication to developing student-athletes exemplifies the profound impact a coach has on the lives of student-athletes.
