Season Review: Girls Cross Country 23-24

Season Review: Girls Cross Country 23-24

The girls’ cross country team had a long 23-24 season ending with a record of 1-10 placing them 8th in the conference.

Their best win was at the Wayland Invitational which was also their only win making it even better.

When asked about their toughest loss, Coach Pertner responded with, ”There was not really a toughest loss. All losses are tough. We did manage to improve a whole lot throughout the season. We finished with our best performance at Regionals.”

The seniors on the team were Caroline Johnson, Larissa Brondyke, and Bethany Behnke.

Their positive attitudes were overly evident when asked about their feelings on the season saying, “Cross Country was such a new experience for me, and even though our team might not have been the greatest, it felt like a family and we all had a great time together!”-Larissa Brondyke.“Overall, this cross-country season was very memorable. We started out a little rough because a few of us weren’t even planning on running cross country until right before. Our team wasn’t necessarily made up of crazy fast runners, but we all pushed hard and made lots of improvements throughout the season.”-Jenna Dozeman. “I’m so sad that the season’s over, it was so much fun and I made so many new friends. I’m glad I have 3 more years to get to be a part of this family.”-Lydia Nelson.

Overall these girls seem to have a lot of love for each other and an amazing willingness to work hard and improve together. Because of that, I think they will see lots of improvement next year, even in the win/loss column and I’m excited to see what they can accomplish.
