Who is Tyler Michielsen? He is one of the three sophomores that were pulled up to play varsity football this year. You see a number 68 on his jersey, and he plays left tackle on the offensive line. He loves the game of football and has been playing it since he was just a little kid. His dream is to one day play football and his instruments in college.
The increased speed and skill is something that Tyler definitely had to adjust to. he “It’s definitely a step up from JV, but it’s really fun, and I got to meet lots of new people.” He says he deals with the stress of being on varsity by treating it like any other game; he doesn’t think of it as playing on varsity, more like he is just playing football.
Tyler has other things he loves to do besides football. Some of his other hobbies include playing video games with some of his favorite video games being Rainbow Six Siege and Call of Duty. He also plays acoustic guitar, ukulele, and trumpet for the high school band. He says he likes to go camping with his family, and his favorite place is Ludington State Park.
When you’re a sophomore playing varsity football, it’s easy to get caught up in what is required in the moment. He doesn’t know what college he would like to go to, but he would like to continue playing football at the next level. He really enjoys English and writing. He also said he really enjoyed biology class, so he would like to continue studying biology or English in college. He currently holds a perfect 4.0 GPA and has been on the honor roll for his entire high school career.
He loves the sport of football and wants to continue to improve his skills and continue his career in college as he studies English and continues to play his instruments. Knowing Tyler, it is easy to see that he will work hard to maintain his grades to ensure he has the best chance of getting into whatever college he applies to. Tyler was thrown into a crazy situation for being just a sophomore and had to juggle multiple hobbies and school but this week he’s focused on beating Spring Lake.
