Abatu Dykstra has the boy’s cross-country team personal record. He is a strong runner. Abatu believes that his team is like a second family to him. He has made connections throughout the season that have made it fun to go to practice and run with his team.

He pushes at practice every day to get better. Although his P.R. is not as good as last year, it is still a very impressive record. He wants his P.R. to be better and he works hard for it. He won 2 academic all-state awards and an all-state award last season.

This is Abatu’s third year running. He continues to run because he is passionate about cross country. When asked why he is passionate about running he responded with, “I love the companionship between runners of all skill levels.” Abatu is planning on running cross country at the college level.

Abatu loves being on the cross-country team and being able to be a leader and work hard with his teammates. He likes to lead an example to the underclassmen on the team. When asked what motives him to continue running he said, “So if you work hard and take the time and effort you know you’re getting your times faster, and that hard work you can allocate that to your life you know your future and everything that’s probably why I still run because I think it’s hard work it’s a valuable skill”

Abatu said he will continue to work hard and try to beat his P.R. for the season.
