HAMILTON GIRLS SWIM AND DIVE MAKES STATE IN THE 200 MEDLEY RELAY

08/29/23

During Tuesday’s home meet against Otsego and Holland, girls swimmers Adi Garvelink, Alyssa Volkers, Keira Volkers, and Lydia Lucas qualified for state in the 200 medley relay. This was only their second meet of the season and they have already secured a spot at state. Seeing that they had already qualified for state so early in the season, and had defeated Holland and Otsego by a large amount of points, the girls’ Hamilton swim and dive team had a successful meet.

After the girls finished their relay, they looked up at the board and were so proud of their times as each of them reflected upon how much effort they had put into the relay. Adi Garvelink, swimming backstroke, ran up to a CHS reporter exclaiming “I think we just made state!”. She was ecstatic. You could see the joy on all 4 of their faces as they just made state at only the second meet of their 2023 season.

Alyssa Volkers, a freshman, made individual state in the 200 freestyle as well. She has already been swimming for 10 years and has done great things for the team! The team and coaches are excited to see the progress of Alyssa throughout the season and the many years ahead.

Adi Garvelink, a sophomore, also made individual state for the 100 breaststroke this season. She has been competitively swimming for 8 years, and has made individual state in years past.

The girls are excited to continue improving throughout the season and work towards making individual state, and improve their times for the state meet.
